childless mother
These pieces are simple and delicate. Digital Drawings made by tracing photos of lost hair after a shower.
Losing hair in the shower is a shared private experience.
The shower is a good place for very big and very small feelings about loss.
These pieces came from knowing mothers who lost their children. I shared that pain in a familial and personal way but could never ever truly know.
At the time, one of my main goals was to only to be a mother to my artwork and nothing else.
I consider this series ongoing. As a private performance the way grief goes.
These works should always be installed flat against a wall in multiples.
Losing parts of yourself comes with a certain kind of horror.
